Sustainable Practices
Locally Made
We developed our signature rope collection with the goal of creating a premium and quality product that lasts. Each piece is made locally, by hand, at our Brooklyn studio. Additionally, we partner with local NYC businesses for material sourcing and manufacturing. Click here to learn more about each of the maker groups we partner with.
Fair Trade
Gone to the Dogs seeks to counter the lack of transparency found in the mass production of pet products. We are an ethical, fair trade platform creating income stability and market access for artisans from marginalized communities. We extensively vet our producers to ensure that they have access to fair living wages and safe working conditions. Click here to learn more about each of the maker groups we partner with.
Sustainably Sourced
We commit to working with and using locally sourced natural materials, renewable and reclaimed fabrics to reduce our carbon footprint. Our Recycling Partnership with NYC Climbing Gyms is Gone to the Dogs’ most well-known contribution. We source material for all our leashes, collars and harnesses using recycled rope from NYC Climbing Gyms, committed to eliminating several tonnes of waste each year. We are grateful to Metrorock, Central Rock, Brooklyn Boulders, Gravity Vault, The Cliffs at LIC and The Cliffs at Gowanus for working with us to eliminate waste sent to landfills in New York City.
Commitment to Recycling
254,000,000 tons of garbage annually wind up in landfills in the United States; only 9% of recyclable materials actually end up recycled. After your pup is finished with our wool toys, we welcome you to join our Toy Recycling Program by returning your remnants to our shop or any of our pop-up markets. 99% of your well-loved toy will be turned into compost and you’ll receive 20% off your next toy!
Supporting Animal Shelters
Our greatest Gone to the Dogs muses are our rescue dogs, Miles and Ollie. Every time you purchase one of our products, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to local animal shelters. We’re grateful for your support in helping all dogs find a happy home!
